About Mel

I've spent twenty years learning new tools. Now I'm sharing the useful ones.

I'm Mel Ryan. Mom of two, marketer for more than 20 years, and the person behind Simple AI Mom.

The work part

Marketing has never stood still. Over two decades the tools changed constantly, and part of the job was always the same: figure out the new thing quickly, decide whether it's actually worth using, and teach the people around you how to use it well.

So when AI tools showed up, I did what I've always done. I tried them, broke them, and figured out where they genuinely helped.

Then I noticed the most useful things I was doing with AI had nothing to do with work.

The mom part

Two kids, one brain, a lot of tabs open.

It was the weekly meal plan. The birthday party logistics. The school emails I needed summarized. The "explain this homework so I don't sound clueless" moments. The decisions I had to make at 9pm when my brain was already done.

AI didn't make me a different person. It took some of the small, constant jobs off my plate, so I had more room for the things I actually wanted to be doing.

Why Simple AI Mom exists

AI education is mostly built for engineers and business owners. I wanted one for the rest of us.

Most of what's out there is technical, overhyped, or aimed at scaling a business. I wanted to show women how to use these tools for their actual lives: meals, schedules, parenting, work, research, creative projects, and maybe building something of their own.

How I teach

01

Useful beats impressive.

I don't care how clever a tool is. I care whether it gets dinner on the table or the email sent.

02

Plain English, always.

If I can't explain it without jargon, I don't understand it well enough to teach it yet.

03

You stay in charge.

AI is a helper, not a decision-maker. You check its work, keep private things private, and use your judgment.

04

Small starts stick.

One prompt that saves you twenty minutes this week beats a 50-tool roundup you'll never open again.

My goal is simple: help more women feel capable with the tools that are already in their hands.

Not experts. Not engineers. Just confident enough to make AI work for them.
